Leeds Parish Church, Leeds:
A two phase program of work has been carried out.
Phase 1 - 1996:
Restoration of the Blowing Plant by ALLFAB Engineering, Methley, Leeds.
All winding and control valves updated and reinstated.
Restore and convert the three main bellows into regulators in the
underfloor basement area. Restore all trunking.
Phase 2 - 1997:
Clean and overhaul the Swell, Great and Pedal pipework.
Installation of new Taylor transmission system and all new wiring
throughout.
Refurbishment of console. This entailed new drawstop solenoids,
new slider solenoids with controllers and the keys were completely
remade with all new action.
Remake Great Reeds and lower pressure to 7".
Fit all new chest magnets.
Releather all double-rise bellows.
Releather all primary actions.
Restore Swell and Great Reed Soundboards.
Top overhaul of Swell and Great Flue Soundboards.
Hornsea Parish Church, Hornsea:
Work started on this
1898, Forster & Andrews instrument in late 1995 and
continued through into early 1996. The biggest
achievement with this instrument was successfully
moving the whole organ 15 inches away from the
north wall - necessary due to architectural problems.
In addition to this movement, much of the organ was
restored. The main changes were:
Instrument moved 15 inches away from wall.
Complete restoration of all soundboards and chests.
New electro-pneumatic action fitted to the Choir and
Great divisions, with electric slider solenoids
throughout.
Swell division updated to coincide with Great and
Choir.
Action on Pedal division completely electrified but
original chest ventils were retained.
Transmission changed to a micro-processor based
system.
Console updated to to conventional layout -
Swell/Pedal on the left, Great/Choir on the right. Keys
remade with high quality top resistance touch.

Provision of thumb and toe pistons affecting the new
16-memory-level capture system.
New passage boards and vertical Swell Shutters
fitted to allow better access for Tuning and
Maintenance, and a better ingress of sound into the
main body of the Church.
All reeds revoiced.
New three-rank Mixture (19, 22, 26) added to the
Great in place of a Viola rank.
Viola rank, originally on the Great, revoiced as a
Diapason and moved to the Swell.
Also on Swell, Clarabella changed to to a stoppered
flute from Tenor C upwards and Mixture remodelled.
On the Choir, a new two-rank Sesquialtera (12, 17)
replaced the Dulciana and the Harmonic Piccolo, which
had been transposed to 11/3 pitch in the past, was
reinstated to its original pitch at 2'.

St. Chads, New Moston, Manchester: The two
manual
Lewis Organ at St. Chads badly needed attention and we
were happy to do this restoration for them. However, in
addition to this, we were also asked to move the
Instrument to a new location - a new gallery at the
West End. This we also agreed to do. Work commenced in
August 1996 and finished just a few weeks into the new
year. The main work included:
Move Instrument to a new position on gallery at West
End.
Complete restoration of Swell and Great Soundboards
including repalleting and flooding with animal glue to
seal.
Mechanical Action completely overhauled - includes
Rollerboards, Trackers and various Lever/Square Beams.
Drawstop Action stripped down and overhauled.
Pedal Board - worn Pedals re-pieced to bring back up
to correct working height, then polished and assembled
with correct spring tension.
Keys cleaned thoroughly, new felt fitted and any
play taken up.
The Organ Console at St.Chads
Bellows completely stripped and reconstructed and
remade with all new leatherwork.
Pedal Chest overhauled throughout - all wires,
valves and buttons renewed as required.
Blower replaced by the original unit remaining from
the previous instrument.
Console stripped, polished and generally made good.
All pipework individually cleaned and
repaired. Pitch of the instrument maintained.
